Nokia made the headlines with the re-launch of the iconic feature phone, Nokia 3310, which we tried out at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona in February. HMD Global, which now has the Nokia brand license, also launched two other smartphones, Nokia 5 and 6 to level with the current trend in the market.

The initial response for the Nokia 6 smartphone in China has been phenomenal, and the company is determined to get a similar treatment for the rest of its phones, including the 3310. Nokia phones haven't made it to the stores yet, but they will be sooner than later. In India, the Finnish start-up has some big plans in tow.

HMD Mobile India VP Ajey Mehta revealed the company's plans to connect with over 400 distributors across India and setup 300 service centres to serve the people of the country. Mehta said that the Nokia 6, Nokia 5, Nokia 3 and Nokia 3310 will be launched in India by the end of June, the Economic Times reported.
While there is no high-end smartphone under the Nokia brand yet, HMD Global is particular about not being mistaken as the cheapest smartphone brand in the market.
"We will expand the portfolio and have a presence across price segments. However, we will not be the cheapest smartphone brand in the market. While pricing will be benchmarked against competition, but it will be as per the value and experience we provide," ET quoted Mehta as saying.
Rumours are rife with details about three more smartphones under development. Nokia 7, Nokia 8 and Nokia 9 will define Nokia's premium range of smartphones. These phones are expected to be launched in late-July or early-August, which means the phones will be available in India at a much later date.
Even as the launch of the first Nokia phones in India is as late as June, HMD Global has high hopes from the country as "studies have shown that the Nokia brand has 95% brand awareness and recall in India. We are confident of making a big comeback," Mehta said.
