Facebook-owned WhatsApp is the leading social messenger app in the world and one of the primary reasons for it to find traction among the global users is the number of value-added features. The company has brought in new options—video and audio group calling— that will surely improve the user experience more.
"Over the last couple years, people have enjoyed making voice and video calls on WhatsApp. In fact, our users spend over 2 billion minutes on calls per day. We're excited to announce that group calls for voice and video are coming to WhatsApp starting today," WhatsApp spokesperson said in a statement.
The new feature is available in the latest update for both Android and iOS versions. If you haven't received the update notification, here's how to check it manually:
For Android:
Go to Play store>> type WhatsApp >> tap update
For iOS:
Go to App Store>> tap Updates>> select WhatsApp>> press update button
Here's how to get started with group video and voice calling feature on Android and iOS phones:
For group video calling:
Go to WhatsApp >> Select the contact person >> tap video camera button >> video call gets initiated >> then tap the icon, which looks like a human bust with '+' button in the top right corner >> select the person you want to invite for group video conference
For group voice calling:
Go to WhatsApp >> Select the contact person >> tap phone icon button >> voice call gets initiated >> then tap the icon, which looks like a human bust with '+' button in the top right corner >> select the person you want to invite for group voice conference
The company says that the Group calls are always end-to-end encrypted, and they've been designed calling feature to work reliably around the world in different network conditions.
