Much to the dismay of her fans, Nina Dobrev, who was an integral part of the show as her character Elena Gilbert was one of the three lead characters, exited CW's "The Vampire Diaries" after six long seasons.
It remains to be seen how the show will move forward now that Dobrev is no longer associated with the vampire drama, but both the show producers and cast members have been teasing that season 7 is going to be darker than the previous seasons.
Recently, during an interview with Melty, actress Kat Graham was questioned about her take on season 6 finale, which was the last episode featuring Dobrev's Elena.
"I think it's tricky, and political... Out of respect for the people who really do work very hard on creating storylines for the show, I don't think it's really appropriate for me to comment..." the actress said.
"There's things that I agree with, and there's things I don't agree with. But I do have things that I would have wanted to change," Graham added.
The upcoming season will see Graham's Bonnie dealing with the guilt of Elena sacrificing her life for her best friend. It is not immediately known what's in store for Graham's character on the romance front, but a number of fans have expressed a desire to see Dobrev's onscreen boyfriend Damon (Ian Somerhalder) pairing up with Bonnie.
"I'm a fan of anything with Ian," Graham told Entertainment Weekly in an earlier interview. "I'm hoping that they can explore that really sort of layered relationship. I've always been a fan of for them."
In yet another interview, she echoed similar sentiments, telling The Hollywood Reporter: "So I'm looking forward to working with Ian a lot more. I think we're going to do some really cool work together. ... Whenever Ian and I have a scene together, I just feel extremely confident we're going to get some great moments together and be there for each other as actors."
"The Vampire Diaries" returns to CW in October.
