West Indies have made just one change to their squad for the third Test against India, which will be held at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, St. Lucia, from Aug. 9. Shai Hope has replaced Rajendra Chandrika in the 14-man squad.
Chandrika was dropped from the squad after he could manage to score only 53 runs in four innings in the last two Test matches against India in Antigua and Jamaica. One must not forget that Hope had scored an unbeaten century against India in the warm-up game ahead of the ongoing Test series.
Hope made his Test debut against England in 2015 and has played only six matches so far. The last Test he played was against Australia at the latter's backyard.
Meanwhile, Roston Chase has cemented his place in the West Indies squad after his stunning resilient innings against India in the second Test in Jamaica. He scored a century to save West Indies from another defeat in the ongoing Test series.
On Day four of the second Test, West Indies was reeling at 48 for the loss of four wickets. But rain Gods came as a blessing in disguise for them and halted the proceedings and India lost over 100 overs in a span of two days.
Chase stepped up to the occasion and scored a gritty century on Day five and pushed the game successfully towards a draw.
Here's the West Indies squad for third Test against India in St. Lucia: Jason Holder (C), Kraigg Brathwaite, Shai Hope, Leon Johnson, Darren Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Jermaine Blackwood, Roston Chase, Shane Dowrich (wk), Shannon Gabriel, Carlos Brathwaite, Devendra Bishoo, Alzarri Joseph, Miguel Cummins.
