Former Trinamool Congress MLA Bagda Dulal Bar was shot by unidentified gunmen in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Thursday evening, reports said.
The MLA was shot by unidentified assailants at the local Bagda market in Bongaon sub-division of the district, reports said.
Bar, whose suffered head injuries in the attack, had been rushed to Bongaon hospital and later shifted to Kolkata for better treatment, according to the reports.
ASP Tarun Halder told PTI that the police have launched an investigation into the matter.
