Akshay Kumar starrer "Welcome" was a laugh riot and a box office hit, and now the makers are back with the sequel.
"Welcome Back", which is a sequel to the 2007 film "Welcome", features John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, Naseeruddin Shah and Sakshi Maggo in pivotal roles.
The comedy drama directed by Anees Bazmee has, so far, generated good hype. The trailer is interesting and is on the lines of Akshay's "Welcome" movie, but the music of the film has received average response.
Nevertheless, "Welcome Back" is expected to have a good opening day the box office. The advance booking of the film, which targets multiplexes as well as single screens, has got good response.
The advance booking status predicts around 40 to 50% occupancy on opening day. The morning show might get a slow start, but the occupancy will definitely pick up in the evening and night shows.
"Welcome Back" opening day collection can be in the range of Rs 10 to Rs 14 crore, if the occupancy in the morning shows increases.
Meanwhile, director Anees Bazmee feels that more than box office numbers its audiences response that matters.
"I am conscious of the fact that producers ko nuksaan na ho. Also, for me it is important that film logon ko pasand kitni aati hai. I don't want to make film which does a business of 200 crore but people say that mazaa nahi aaya," he told Koimoi.com.
