The film "Welcome 3" has been in the news since last month, when publications reported Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif would reunite for it. New reports suggest the superstar may team up with Sajid Khan for the comic caper.
"The makers have Ahmed Khan on board for a project at the same time they are thinking if Sajid Khan will be apt to make this comic caper. Though last had John in lead the next will surely have Akshay in lead with all other actors like Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor and Paresh Rawal, [sic]" a source told Absolute India News.
The makers were initially planning to start "Awara Paagal Deewana 2" with Akshay in the lead and Ahmed at the helm, but have now decided to go ahead with the third instalment of "Welcome."
However, the third part will only begin when Firoz Nadiadwala, who produced the first two films, reportedly decides to pay director Anees Bazmee an outstanding amount of Rs 5 crore.
"Firoz can't start a film without clearing my money. I have given three years to 'Welcome Back.' I have to get Rs 5 crore from Firoz. I wish all the best to his next venture, but before that I need to get my outstanding money," he told the daily.
In other news, Akshay is busy with a few projects as of now. He is simultaneously working on "2.0" ("Robot 2") and "Rustom." In the first one, he plays mad scientist Dr Richard, who turns himself into a crow as a result of an experiment gone wrong. In the other one, he essays a decorated naval officer.
"Namastey England," "Holiday 2," "Special 26 2," and "Oh My God 2" are some of his other films, but they are yet to be confirmed.
