A lot happened in the automotive industry this week and one must say that the week was equally exciting with the launch of a new Baleno premium hatchback and three Avenger cruisers in the domestic market.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno
Baleno, the second car to be sold through Martui's new Nexa premium dealership, entered the Indian market on 26 October and has been priced at Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Launched in four trims -- Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha -- Baleno is the first car in India to come with Apple Carplay.
Under the hood, the Maruti Baleno includes 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine. While the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine is tuned to develop 83bhp and 115Nm of torque, the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel mill churns out 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. The new Baleno is available in seven body shades: Granite grey, Solid fire red, Premium urban blue, Autumn orange, Metallic premium silver, Pearl arctic white and Ray blue.
Bajaj Avenger Street 220 and 150, Avenger 220 Cruise
Pune-based two wheeler maker Bajaj pulled the wraps off its three new Avenger edition in India this week-namely Avenger Street 220, Street 150 and Avenger 220 Cruise. While Avenger Street 220 and 220 Cruise have been priced at Rs 84,000, the third one 150 Street gets a price tag of Rs 75,000.
Bajaj Avenger Street 220 and Avenger 220 Cruise get power form the 220cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine churning out 19bhp at 8,400rpm and 17.5Nm of torque at 7,000rpm, the smaller version 150 Street is powered by Pulsar 150's engine that is tuned to generate 13bhp and a maximum torque of 12.5 Nm.
Fiat Punto Sportivo
Fiat rolled out the limited edition of its popular Punto Evo dubbed at Rs 7,10,000 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Punto Sportivo, which comes with exterior and interior changes, is offered only in diesel variants.
Under the hood, the new edition gets the 1.3-litre Multi-Jet diesel engine -- which has the capacity to churn out 75bhp of power and 197Nm of torque.
Punto Sportivo gets dual-tone red body and white roof, new design 15 inch alloy wheels, sporty rear spoiler, chrome garnish on ORVMs, rear parking sensors, and new Sportivo decals. Other features include 6.5 inch touchscreen infotainment system, carpet mats with Fiat branding, new seat covers, and a special flat door sill.
