Jennifer Aniston-starrer Office Christmas Party is battling with Disney's Polynesian princess for the first spot in the weekend box office. The $45 million Christmas-themed comedy Office Christmas Party topples Moana on Friday with gross $6.6 million at its opening weekend.
According to a Deadline report, Moana is going to settle the weekend again with an estimated $18.8 million. Office Christmas Party is looking to bring an estimated $16.8 million this weekend from 3,210 screenings after winning Friday with $6.6 million.
After topping the box office third week in a row, Disney's Moana ranked second after Office Christmas Party followed by Fantastic Beasts, Arrival, Doctor Strange, Allied. Moana has a higher chance to come to the top this weekend box office while the film grossed $4.1 million at 3875 locations.
Office Christmas Party reportedly won the Friday box office after earning $6.6 million from 3210 screenings, while La La Land's net gross box office collection is $3 million in its opening weekend.
Lionsgate's La La Land is soaring high as it is just a limited release. This Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone-starrer just got released in only five theatres in New York and Los Angeles and already brought a decent amount on Friday itself.
No other new faces surfaced at the top of the box office as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them grossed an additional $2.85 million from 3,626 locations on Friday, while Arrival earned $1.6 million from 3,115 theatres. "Doctor Strange" made $1.2 million from 2,763 locations, rounding out the top five.
