Box office in Chennai is abuzz with the latest releases – Karthi's "Komban" and Udhayanidhi Stalin's "Nanbenda". Both the films have completed their second weekend and are going strong.
According to a Behindwoods report, "Komban" topped box office collections in Chennai city, pushing "Nanbenda" to second position, though both the movies registered good opening.
When compared to "Nanbenda", the movie "Komban" has received a positive response and industry analysts are waiting to see if the movie can manage to be a hit at the box office.
As per the report, "Komban" has collected ₹2.29 crore in total. From 177 weekend shows, the movie earned ₹58.19 lakh, and from the 280 shows on weekdays, its collections stood at ₹55.94 lakh.
"Nanbenda" missed the first position by a narrow margin, as the movie made a total of ₹1.96 crore. It earned ₹40.18 lakh from 156 shows during the weekend, while the collections from 256 shows during weekdays stood at ₹48.92 lakh. The movie is one of the sought-after for families to watch in theatres.
It would be interesting to see how these two popular movies hold their space in the coming weekend, when two popular movies are slated for release. Mani Ratnam's "OK Kanmani" and Lawrences's "Kanchana 2" are all set for a grand release on 17 April.
"OK Kanmani" starring Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen is the most-awaited of the two and the film is set to be released in 350 screens in Tamil Nadu. The movie, touted as an urban romantic flick has masters such as AR Rahman, PC Sreeram and Vairamuthu involved in the making of the film.
On the other hand, "Kanchan2" is the third in the series of "Muni" and considering the popularity of the movie and the fact that the previous two versions enjoyed massive success, the audience are expecting the movie to be yet another treat for them. The trailer of the film has already created a huge buzz, which is expected to be reflected in box office collections.
