Teams like Manchester United and Manchester City have given Liverpool a huge boost in their pursuit of Champions League qualification with both the Manchester teams having dropped points on Sunday. Liverpool have a wonderful job to strengthen their position and go three points above City and four above United if they manage to beat Watford at Vicarage Road on Monday.
Though City and United will have a game in hand after this Liverpool clash, Reds fixture looks a bit easy compared to other teams. Liverpool should not think too much ahead, and just concentrate on their next game against Watford only.
They will take it one game at a time, and Jurgen Klopp also knows about the current situation, where the need of winning matches is of utmost importance to realise their Champions League dream.
Liverpool have been bogged down with injuries in recent weeks. They have not been able to play with their best playing XI, but Klopp will pleased with the expected return of Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge. These two players, if they start against Watford, can play an important role in the offensive front.
"We are in the best situation squad-wise in the last two or three weeks, because Adam is back, Daniel looks like he could be back and that's good. That's better than the week before. That's a new situation for us and now we can think about how we use this," LFC's official website quoted Klopp as saying.
"We are prepared for these last four games, but if we only see it as pressure, then we should have lost a few more games before, because then we wouldn't have pressure anymore, and we would fight for nothing. We are fighting for nearly the highest position in this league, and that's good. That's much better than last year. We want to show we are ready for it."
On paper, Liverpool look strong, and should pick up three points. Then with Liverpool, they have been below par against mid and lower table teams. There is a serious need for Liverpool's defence to be strong, especially with the likes of Troy Deeney, who is known for his goal-scoring ability.
Besides Deeney, they also have Etienne Capoue and Tom Cleverly, who can trouble Liverpool. The home team will also be plotting revenge after their embarrassing last year 1-6. Watford head coach Walter Mazzarri has not forgotten that loss.
"They [Liverpool] will be very angry, because they lost at home [to Crystal Palace]. I hope my players are more angry than them, because we lost our last game and conceded six against Liverpool earlier this year," BBC quoted Mazzarri as saying.
