The end of "When Calls the Heart" Season 3 is upon us and for hearties, this is indeed a sad time. In Season 3 episode 9, Jack (Daniel Lissing) and Elizabeth's (Erin Krakow) relationship gets jeopardised.
[Spoiler Alert]
After passing many hurdles, it almost felt like Jack and Elizabeth would have a happy ending. The mountie even showed her a piece of land that he bought for the two of them. His commitment to their relationship was heartwarming to say the least. However, their future will be tested when a natural disaster strikes Hope Valley.
In episode 9, Jack embarks on a journey. Elizabeth, who seems to have telepathic powers, gives him a long hug. She looks concerned when she bids goodbye to the love of her life. Although he reassures her that he will back soon, she doesn't sound convinced.
In the next few scenes, a flood engulfs the valley and Jack gets caught in it. In the promo, he appears to be lying dead in a pool of water. Although it isn't clear if he actually dies, the residents of Hope Valley offer their support to the school teacher. In a rare moment of sympathy, Jack's mother thinks of Elizabeth and says, "I don't know who to be sad for."
Even if Jack survives the accident, we predict that he will never be the same again. How will this affect his relationship with Elizabeth? This remains to be seen.
Season 3 episode 9's synopsis (via TV Guide) reads:
In the third-season finale, the strength of the town is tested when a landslide endangers one of Hope Valley's own.
