As Season 2 of "Wayward Pines" comes to an end, the war between the Abbies and the human race intensifies. In the penultimate instalment, Season 2 episode 9 titled "Walcott Prep," the aberrations are hungry for revenge and the town's people have little or no clue about how to save themselves.
Killing Margaret was a huge mistake and the Wayward Pinesians realise this. However, this revelation dawns a little late because the Abbies gather in hundreds and seem to know about the drainage pipe that allows them to enter the town. At this point, one is impelled to curse Xander and his plans for the Idaho Town.
While Theo, who has suddenly woken up to idea of saving the town and all of humanity, searches for clues, the town's leader Jason actually has one. David Pilcher's Chosen One says the only way everyone can be saved is by going to sleep. But there seems to be two problems: only half of the residents can be put into the cryo chambers. And Theo (Jason Patric) isn't ready to give up without a fight.
To be sure, Season 2 episode 9 of "Wayward Pines" delves into a neat little sub-plot that hinges on a battle between Theo and Jason. The surgeon vows to take Jason down before the rest of the town suffers and Kerry seems to agree with him.
Jason's partner looks shocked when he informs her of his plans: not everyone in Wayward Pines is going to know about the lack of cryo chambers. In fact, half of the population is going to be offered as meat to the aberrations who want to avenge Margaret's death.
However, before any of Jason's ideas do materialise, the promo depicts a gun-shot going off when Kerry learns of Jason's plans. It's unclear if she finally shoots Jason but it does look like Wayward Pines might not have a leader when the Abbies sneak past the fence.
Will Theo take on a different role? Will Rebbecca (Nimrat Kaur) and C.J. Mitchum find a different way to save the town's residents? These questions will perhaps be addressed when the upcoming instalment airs.

With the Abbies closing in, Jason makes a fatal judgment call; Pilcher recalls finding his Chosen One; Theo and Xander put their differences aside to save the human race.
