One part of the near-unstoppable Barcelona trio might be missing, but the treble winners from last season are still expected to get the better of their fellow Spanish side Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup 2015 in Tbilisi on Tuesday.
Neymar has been ruled out of the Super Cup match against Sevilla owing to a bout of mumps, leaving Pedro Rodriguez, the man who is expected to complete a move to Manchester United in a few days, to link up with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.
Messi, Suarez and Neymar were the main factors behind Barcelona's incredible treble last season, with the trio sending a tremble down the defenders' spine every time they ran at full tilt with the ball.
The Champions League holders will now look to add to their three titles from last season, by winning the UEFA Super Cup to start off the new campaign in the best possible note.
"This is our first official match of preseason and it's a nice test to see where we're at," Barcelona manager Luis Enrique said. "Every title is a challenge and we'll tackle this one as we would any other. We'll see how we get on against our rivals and whether we've earned this one.
"I don't care whether we're favourites to win or not. What we have to do is show that we are better on the pitch. We know our rivals are tough opponents as it's always difficult to beat them. It's exciting to be playing in the Super Cup and we know we have to play well in order to win."
Sevilla went down to Real Madrid in last year's Super Cup, but the Europa League champions will be determined to get their hands on the trophy this time around.
Stopping Messi and Suarez from running the show will be key for Sevilla, and if they can somehow nullify the threat posed by the two South Americans, they might be in with a chance of walking up those steps in a triumphant mood rather than a deflated one.
"It's another opportunity we want to make the most of," Sevilla coach Unai Emery said. "We're playing major rivals who are favourites but we have many things in our favour and we're working on our strengths to overcome Barcelona.
"We want to take advantage of this moment -- we're at the level where we want to be, at the very top. I have a vision for this match but whether it comes to pass is a different matter."
Apart from Neymar, Barcelona will also be without Jordi Alba and Douglas, with both suffering from hamstring problems. Alba's potential replacement at left-back – Adriano – is a slight doubt with a thigh strain.
Sevilla will have to make do without new signing Steven N'Zonzi, Daniel Carrico and Nicolas Pareja, while Adil Rami and Timothee Kolodziejczak will be assessed before the match.
Expected lineups: Barcelona: Ter Stegen; Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Mathieu; Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta; Messi, Suarez, Pedro.
Sevilla: Rico; Ferreira, Rami, Kolo, Tremoulinas; Banega, Krychowiak; Reyes, Iborra, Vitolo; Immobile.
