The Gunners have only played one preseason match so far, coming away with a 2-0 win over Conference side Boreham Wood last Saturday.
While that match featured the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky, Mathieu Flamini and Abou Diaby, this Arsenal side to face NY Red Bulls will wear a more experienced look, with the likes of Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla also joining up with the team following their extended break.
Having said that, though, the game will be about one thing -- Arsenal facing Henry, arguably the club's greatest ever player. "He is a legend at the club, and if you ask every Arsenal fan 'who is the player of Arsenal?' they will say Thierry Henry," Wenger said of his protégé. "He has a statue in front of the stadium -- I think there are only two or three so that tells you what impact he has made."
With Chuba Akpom the only striker in the squad that travelled to the United States, Wenger believes it would not be such a bad idea for Henry to be seen in those Arsenal colours again. "I came here with only one striker because I hoped he [Henry] would play one half for us," Wenger said with a smile. "He practises with us and is still very sharp and he came back here in very good shape."
Shaping up will be Wenger's primary concern heading into this game with the manager keen to see his players get back to playing fitness as soon as possible. The English Premier League is less than a month away, and while none of the summer signings have joined the club yet, the manager will be keen to see his current squad get into their groove as soon as possible.
The New York Red Bulls are currently in the middle of their MLS season, but with Arsenal vs Henry the headlining act on Saturday, all season worries and talk will be put to the backburner for a couple of hours at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.
"Wearing the [Arsenal] shirt was a privilege for me," Henry said. "I understood that when I left and when I came back to play in those seven or eight games. Wearing an Arsenal shirt was the most important thing and it feels unbelievable.
"This is going to sound weird but [facing Arsenal this weekend] will be like being in training, because I have trained with them in the offseason.
"The thing I am happy about is for the US fans to be able to see Arsenal, and for some of the kids to be able to play against them, because some of our guys were not here yet when we played Arsenal at the Emirates Cup.
"I think it will be great for them to play against a team like Arsenal Football Club."
