When "Ray Donovan" returns with season 3 episode 9 "The Octopus" on Sunday, 6 September, we will see how Mickey's actions affect his son's lives, yet again.

Previously, we saw Mickey (Jon Voight) being propositioned by the investigating police officer, who said that she is willing to let Darryl (Pooch Hall), Bunchy (Dash Mihok) and him live free if he is willing to become an informant. Although he agrees to it initially, Mickey realises that what the cops are asking him to do, would get him killed, and he goes into hiding.

The Minassians, on whom the cops want Mickey to spy, are a nefarious bunch that lends money to brothels and gets it back with heavy interest. Mickey also used to be their costumer, and has taking quite a huge sum from them to start his own brothel business.

However, everything crashed down around Mickey, and he had no way of paying the Minassians their money back.

As we have already seen, the mob family doesn't take unpaid debts that lightly. So Mickey, who has to choose between getting killed and going to jail along with his children, chooses the latter.

Unable to find Mickey, the cops take Bunchy in, and on his wedding day, of all days. As his new bride Theresa (Alyssa Diaz) is looking for Bunchy to take pictures for the wedding album, Ray (Live Schreiber) wryly remarks, "Looks like he's gonna miss the photos". Well, the marriage is off to a great start.

Ray tracks his father down, and tries to get Mickey to go with him, however the older Donovan refuses. "I go in there.. What they want me to do.. I'm dead". Ray reminds him that his choice would put his younger son in prison. However, an unperturbed Mickey points a gun at Ray; but if It came down to it, we know who will win the fight.
