A repeat of the Pro Kabaddi 2015 final sees Bengaluru FC pitted against defending champions U Mumba, Thursday at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in the national capital.
The clash between the two Pro Kabaddi giants is a mouthwatering one, but this time, only one team will go through to the Pro Kabaddi 2016 playoffs, and Bengaluru Bulls are not that team.
Last year's finalists have not had a good season this time, as they have recorded just two wins from 11 matches so far, and even if they bag three wins on the trot in their three remaining league fixtures, they won't be making it to the last four of the competition.
U Mumba, on the other hand, can even go atop the table at the end of their 14 league games. At present, they are on 35 points from nine matches. Patna Pirates rule the table with 52 points from 12 matches, with U Mumba able to make it to 60 points if they win all their next five games.
The defending Pro Kabaddi champions haven't lost any of their last five fixtures and the next five matches see them facing Bengaluru Bulls, Jaipur Pink Panthers, Puneri Paltan, Telugu Titans and Dabang Delhi.
U Mumba's last four fixtures are scheduled to take place in Mumbai, and everyone who followed the Pro Kabaddi League last year, is aware of the team's prowess at home.
Bengaluru Bulls have beaten only Dabang Delhi and Jaipur Pink Panthers this season and lost out to U Mumba by the narrowest of narrow margins in their first leg encounter this season. Can they overturn the previous result, this time? That needs to be seen.
Previous encounter this season: U Mumba 29-28 Bengaluru Bulls.
Squads: Bengaluru Bulls – Surjeet Narwal (C), Amit Rathi, Deepak Dahiya, Sinotharan, Vaibhav Kale, Vinoth Kumar, Ashish S, Ketut Ariana, Vijender Singh, Satish Kumar, R Pandu, Michal Spiczko, Deepak Kumar, Parmod Narwal, Preetam Chhillar, Shashank Wankhede, Shrikant Tewthia.
