OnePlus has established a hardcore fan following towards its young brand, which has helped it sell millions of its flagship smartphones. The company's latest OnePlus 6 smartphone breached one million mark in just 22 days and the next big release is slated for later this year.
Following the success of OnePlus 6, fans are eager to see what the future holds for OnePlus smartphones. Since the Chinese smartphone company has followed bi-annual upgrades to its flagships, it is only a matter of time before we see the OnePlus 6T.
OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei had said in an interview earlier this year that the company will launch OnePlus 6T only if there's something new to offer. If Pei took a look at this newly-released concept video by Science and Knowledge, he will have plenty of reasons to launch the 6T.
The video suggests OnePlus 6T could borrow some major technologies from Vivo and OPPO, since they all belong to BBK Electronics. If the history is any indication, OnePlus has picked up cues from OPPO and Vivo in its new releases, like adopting the notch display in OnePlus 6 after Oppo and Vivo launched F7 and V9, respectively. Since both companies have launched fullscreen bezel-less smartphones with protruding cameras and in-display fingerprint scanners, it is likely for OnePlus to follow the suit.
The OnePlus 6T concept video shows both these innovative features that we have seen in Vivo Nex and Oppo Find X. If the video holds any water, the OnePlus 6T could feature a truly bezel-less display, in-display fingerprint scanner and elevating cameras, which will eliminate the need for having a notch at the top of the display.
OnePlus 6T concept video also imagines the handset to come with glass panels on both sides with aluminium frame - much like the OnePlus 6. But the video shows three camera lenses at the back and the dual front cameras pop-up to take a selfie or use face unlock using 3D facial recognition.
Other features shown in the video include a 6.4-inch Optic AMOLED display protected by the latest Gorilla Glass 6, Snapdragon 845 chipset with 6GB and 8GB RAM options, and 64GB/ 128GB/ 256GB storage models, and a 3,840mAh battery with Dash Charge.
OnePlus 6T is shown in four colours white, black, red and blue, and runs Android 8.1 Oreo-powered OxygenOS 5.1. Connectivity options in the phone include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v5.0 with aptX and aptX HD support, NFC, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

If OnePlus follows its timetable like last year, we can expect the OnePlus 6T sometime in Q4 2018. The pricing of the handset could be the same as the launch price of OnePlus 6, which will be reduced to create a price gap.
As convincing as the concept video appears, we have our doubts about the OnePlus 6T coming with elevating front cameras, in-display fingerprint scanner and triple camera setup at the back. OnePlus 6T won't fall far from the OnePlus 6 in terms of innovations, yet it will offer some strong USPs, which will be reason enough to win new consumers. Stay tuned for updates.
