After New York Jets victory over Cleveland Browns in their opening National Football League (NFL) weekend, they will be in a confident mood as they are set to face Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana.
The Colts, who might have lost their opening game against Buffalo Bills, are going to be a strong team in front of their home fans. Though the Colts did not come up with their best against the Bills, they will be eager to avoid back-to-back defeats this early in the season.
The Jets are one of the most popular teams in the NFL and are an entertaining team to watch out for in the competition. They plan an aggressive brand of football.
The head coach for the Colts, Chuck Pagano, who knows Jets' coach Todd Bowles personally, worked with him in Cleveland; hence he knows that the visitors will come with an aggressive mindset on Monday.
"I know (Jets head coach Todd Bowles). I worked with Todd (in Cleveland) He's a great coach. His mindset has always been play aggressive, attacking style football. He's going to bring it, and he's going to keep bringing it. We're going to see five, six men, we're going to see zero blitzes, all kinds of stuff," Colts' official website quoted Pagano as saying.
The Colts have a major doubt regarding the fitness of their wide receiver, TY Hilton, who sat out during the team's practice session as well. Even if Hilton remains on the sideline, the Colts will depend on the services of Andrew Luck, who is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
Bowles is aware of the big threat Luck will bring to the table on Monday, as the head coach believes he is an all-round complete player. If Luck comes up with an A-class game, the Jets might have to suffer their first defeat as well.
"We think he's (Luck) one of the best in the league," said Bowles.
"He's extremely smart. He's very heady. He's a winner. He runs very well. He scrambles well. If he does throw an interception, he will come after you like a middle linebacker and try to make the play. You can see the competitiveness and all-around complete player. I've been a fan of his since college. He's a joy to watch, I just hope he's not a joy to watch against us (laughs)."
The Jets might have to do without the services of their running back, Chris Ivory, who is said to be suffering from a groin injury.
Irrespective of the teams that will be put up by Jets and Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana, there is plenty of depth in their respective teams to dazzle NFL fans with their quality on the pitch.
