Minnesota Timberwolves were one of the worst teams in the NBA last season, but they are eager to come up with a better performance this season. The future of the Timberwolves lies on the hands of some young guns, which includes Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns.
The duo are set to be in action on Wednesday as they face one of the most popular teams in the NBA, Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center. The Wolves are more than determined to deliver in their first match and start the season on a high.
The Wolves seem to have a decent mix of experience and youngsters. With years of experience in the circuit, the trio of Kevin Garnett, Andre Miller and Tayshuan Prince are expected to guide the young guns in the team and help them excel as a player.
Point guard Tyus Jones, a youngster, believes having such experienced players in their squad, will provide them to learn the tricks of the trade.
A lot of teaching," AP quoted 19-year-old Tyus Jonesas saying.
"They've been here and done that. They're winners in this league. To have them on the same team as us every day is a new opportunity to learn something."
If the youngsters and the senior pros in the team settle in quick time, one can witness Wolves providing trouble to some other teams in the league. However, they need to get their rhythm, initially, against Lakers, who will want their senior all star pro, Kobe Bryant to have a good season.
Bryant has had his share of injuries of late, which has been a major concern. The player also suffered an injury during preseason in mid-October, which kept him practise out of two weeks as well.
However, things seems to have been moving fine for the Lakers' man, who is comfortable at present.
"I don't really have any anxiety about it," ESPN quoted Bryant as saying.
"It's been slowly getting better. The past couple days, I've been able to move a lot more with some of the things that we feel comfortable doing."
When Bryant starts against Wolves, it is going to be another feather in cap for the hoopster as he will be playing his 20th season as a Lakers' man.
