The Los Angeles Lakers have struggled this season, but if one looks at their last two games in the NBA, one would be utterly surprised. The Lakers have defeated Golden State Warriors and Orlando Magic. With such form, they are set to host Cleveland Cavaliers at Staples Center in Los Angeles, Thursday.
The match will be a tough one for Lakers as the Cavaliers have been the best team in the Eastern Conference and are playing some good basketball. They currently lie on top of their conference with 45 wins and 18 losses.
Comparatively, the Lakers have been poor. They have only won 14 and lost 51 games, which is the worst record in the Western Conference. The Lakers could once again miss Kobe Bryant during the game and another match-up between Kobe and Cavs' LeBron James may not take shape.
However, the Lakers have some stars such as Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson and D'Angelo Russell in their line-up, to unsettle the Cavaliers. The trio performed splendidly well against Magic in their last game, scoring more than 20 points each. Coach Byron Scott is pleased with their performance.
"I was pretty happy for those three guys, because I thought they all played extremely well," Lakers' official website quoted Scott as saying. "Obviously those are the three guys that we're really trying to prime to get to the next level and kind of take that challenge every single night."
The trio has a huge task against the Cavalaiers, but not an impossible one. The Cavaliers have some huge stars in their team, which includes James and Kyrie Irving among others. If James gets going against the Lakers, there are very few teams in the NBA that can stop him.
The Cavaliers are on top of the conference with some brilliant performances from James and the visitors will be keen for another similar performance from their superstar, who has always led from the front. James averages 24.9 ppg and is one of the best offensive players in the NBA.
Though the Lakers might have defeated the Warriors, it is not going to any easy against the Cavaliers.
