The Golden State Warriors are on a purple patch as they enjoy a perfect record at home. That record could be challenged by the Miami Heat, who are set to travel to the Oracle Arena on Monday for an NBA regular season encounter.
The Warriors possess an incredible record overall with 35 wins and just 2 losses, which is incredible in the ever-competitive league. With players such as Stephen Curry in their ranks, they have dominated teams like no other, and hence lie atop the Western Conference.
Even when Curry has been injured, the Warriors have maintained their form, with Draymond Green and Klay Thompson coming up with big games. It is such collective performances which has blown away the opposition.
Talking about quality players, the Heat also have some big names in their lineup, including Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Wade's participation, though, is in doubt, as the veteran guard is struggling with a strained left shoulder.
Bosh is aware of the tough match for the Heat when they face the Golden State Warriors, who have been performing consistently and are scoring baskets for fun. The Heat need their star players – Wade, if fit, and Bosh -- to fire on all cylinders.
"It's spectacular. They're playing amazing basketball," AP quoted Miami forward Chris Bosh as saying.
"A lot of their guys have come back and improved, including their best player. It's just a collective punch dealing with those guys. ... They're just playing with high, high confidence right now."
Curry, who was the MVP last season, is having another incredible season, and is expected to retain the MVP crown. Curry, who averages 29.5 points per game this season, scored 38 points in Warriors' last game, against the Sacramento Kings.
After the game, Warriors' interim coach Luke Walton was all praise for Curry. "I'm glad he's on our team. He's pretty impressive," Walton said.
"He looked like he had more of a rhythm going. I think all of the injuries - he's kept getting kicked - it's throwing him off a little bit. He's still playing at an MVP level. It should looked like he had a nice bounce and rhythm to his game [against Sacramento]."
If the Heat fails to contain Curry and his point-scoring ability, the visitors will have very little chance of winning the game.
