The Golden State Warriors, who lost against Denver Nuggets in their last NBA game, will be more than determined to come up with a big game against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Oracle Arena on Thursday. The Warriors, who have only lost three games this season, currently lie on top of Western Conference and will once again be keen to get back to their winning ways.
The Lakers, on the contrary, have been the worst team in the conference as they have won only nine matches in the league. They have a tall order in place as they travel to Oracle Arena where the Warriors have been impossible to beat. The Warriors have an 18-0 win loss record at home, and it might be a huge shock if the Lakers make them suffer their first loss.
Stephen Curry has been the key man for Warriors, who have dominated the league like no other. Curry averages 29.8 points per game (ppg) this season while other stars such as Klay Thompson and Draymond Green have 20.9 ppg and 15.2 ppg, respectively.
Curry, who has helped the Warriors win a number of games this season, was one of the main reasons for their loss against the Nuggets as he turned the ball over in the dying seconds of the fourth quarter.
"It was a great opportunity to try to tie the game or take the lead," AP quoted Curry as saying. "Got stuck between looking for the open man and handling the ball."
Such mistakes rarely happen when Curry has the ball, but the star player will try to make amends against the Lakers, who will depend on Lou Williams and D'Angelo Russell. Meanwhile, Lakers coach Byron Scott is not sure whether Kobe Bryant, who has been troubled with injuries of late, will play as the Lakers man suffered from sore Achilles tendon in their last game.
"He feels a certain responsibility to play in these arenas, which is admirable of him," Scott told the team's official website. "But my responsibility is to make sure he can play this (whole) season. I have to look past (Thursday) and Saturday's game (at Utah)."
Even if Bryant plays, the Lakers are second favourite for Thursday's game against the Warriors.
