Revenge will be on the minds of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers when they visit the Golden State Warriors in a Christmas Day NBA showdown.
The manner of the defeats in the NBA Finals last season would probably still be hurting the Cavaliers, and with the target of setting things straight, LeBron James and co. will target a big victory over the league's best team by some distance.
Golden State are a brilliant 26-1, a couple of days before Christmas, and no team, at the moment, look capable of handling the sharp-shooting team.
Stephen Curry has stepped it up a notch this season, making even LeBron look human, and if the premier guard continues his merry way on Christmas Day, there is only going to be one winner.
Cleveland would have learnt from their mistakes from last season – even if they were shorthanded – and it will be up to James to step up and spark what will be a huge win for them, the kind of win that could help them considerably if these two teams end up meeting again in the NBA Finals.
To help James on Christmas Day, there will be Kyrie Irving, who made his much-awaited comeback from injury in the easy win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.
Irving played 17 minutes in his first game of the season, scoring 12 points, and the guard will take a lot of encouragement from the positive return to action for the Cavaliers.
"Kind of been a long, long road, but finally getting out there with my teammates was a pleasure," Irving was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.
"Obviously, the first game back we weren't trying to push it too hard, and I just wanted to go out there and see how it felt. Hopefully, every game I can progress and feel better."
Cleveland will need Irving to feel a lot better if they are to stop Curry and the Golden State Warriors from gifting their already ecstatic fans a perfect Christmas gift.
