Amid conspiracy theories and speculations surrounding the disappearance of AirAsia flight QZ8501, FOX news co-host Anna Kooiman has come up with one of the most ridiculous explanations for the same. She has blamed the "The Metric System" on air as the cause of missing AirAsia flight.
Kooiman's theory is that the plane has disappeared because the pilots in other countries are trained in "different way" than American pilots, namely that they follow the Metric System. "Even when we think about temperature, it's Fahrenheit or Celsius," she pointed out. "It's kilometres or miles. You know, everything about their training could be similar, but different."
During an on-air interview with former FAA spokesperson Scott Brenner, the FOX news host speculated that the "real reason" behind the missing flight could be the "different way other countries train their pilots." Brenner, however, clarified that the the major difference between international and US pilots was the reliance on automatic pilot."
Moreover, flight QZ8501 was travelling from Surabaya, Indonesia, which follows the Metric System to Singapore, which also does the same, eliminating any scope for communication gaps proposed by the FOX anchor.
The metric system or the "International System of Units" is the official system of measurement in almost every country in the world.
Kooiman then goes on to clarify whether international travel is safe, for the sake of the viewers. "It's incredibly safe. It's the safest mode of travel you can have," guaranteed Brenner.
