20th Century Fox has just dropped the final international trailer of Assassin's Creed with just two weeks prior to its release.
The film, which is an adaptation of a popular gaming franchise, reveals plenty of new details in the latest trailer. The trailer opens with Jeremy Irons' villainous character explaining the need of tracking down the artifact Apple of Eden. Soon after, we get a glimpse of a very puzzled Callum (Fassbender), through whom the artifact can be found. He has to go through some revolutionary technology to unlock the memories of his ancestor from 15th century Spain (who's been dead for 500 years). At the end of the trailer, a deep voice intones, "We work in the dark to serve the light. We are assassins."
Michael Fassbender plays the role of Callum Lynch in the movie and is actually the descendant of a shadowy society of assassins. Academy Award winner actor Marion Cotillard plays the role of Dr. Sophia Rikkin.
Fassbender said in an interview with Empire, "This is very ambiguous morally. Both of these parties--the Templars and the Assassins--are hypocritical at certain points. There are not clear-cut good and bad characters."
Here's the official synopsis of Assassin's Creed:
Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organisation in the present day.
Directed by Justin Kurzel (Macbeth), Assassin's Creed also features Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson and Ariane Labed.
The movie opens in theatres on December 21, 2016. Watch the trailer below.
