After an absolutely thumping opening win, the Gemini Arabians will want to put the Leo Lions to the sword when the two teams meet in the Masters Champions League in Dubai on Saturday.
Virender Sehwag, Kumar Sangakkara and Brad Hodge made merry against the Libra Legends in the opening MCL encounter, with the Gemini Arabians posting a massive 234/3 in 20 overs. Sangakkara, who many still wonder why he isn't playing international cricket anymore, was the wrecker-in-chief, smashing a 43-ball 86, with Richard Levi and Hodge chipping in with a 43-ball 62 and 19-ball 46 respectively. Sehwag fell early with a typically quick 11-ball 21, in an innings which had a six and two fours.
With such a big score on the board, the Gemini Arabians bowlers had a relatively comfortable time with the ball, as the Libra Legends could only manage 156 in reply.
After such a big win, the Gemini Arabians will be in confident mood, going into their clash against the Leo Lions, who, it must be said, will be feeling the same way after their own opening win.
The Leo Lions were too strong for the Capricorn Commanders, with the former team's bowlers coming to the party to help their side over the line. Defending a par score of 156, the Lions bowlers did exceedingly well to keep the Capricorn Commanders to just 130 and with it fashion a 26-run win.
Fidel why-is-he-playing-in-the-MCL Edwards was the pick of the bowlers, with figures of 4-0-33-4, while the likes of Scott Styris, Heath Streak, Robin Peterson and Johan Botha backed the fast bowler up pretty well.
With the Leo Lions' bowling impressing in their opening match, it will be interesting to see if the Gemini Arabians can go hell for leather yet again. And if the likes of Sehwag, Sangakkara and Hodge find form again, this match could end up being a high-scoring one.
