Anyone with a fascination for cooking reality TV shows has witnessed anger, frustration, drama, tears and, more importantly, food that's uplifting. It is perhaps all of these elements that make "MasterChef," the U.S. version of he TV series, so exciting. In the latest instalment, Season 7 episode 2, this excitement continues as judges Gordon Ramsay and Christina Tosi pick the final top 20 contestants.
So far, the competition hasn't begun and judges are still in the process of shortlisting 20 from their 40 final picks. In the season premiere episode, Chef Ramsay and renowned baker Tosi picked 10 contestants and perhaps the final list of 20 contestants will be revealed in Season 7 episode 2.
This season, the judges seemed to take into account the technique displayed by hopeful contestants. This became obvious when Ramsay and Tosi handed the first apron to Kentucky native and teacher Brandi. Although her presentation lacked sophistication, her steak was seared well and resounded with flavours from the bayou. Other homecooks who won the apron in the premiere episode include Andrea, Eric, Manny, David, Terry, Nathan, Barbara, Lisa Ann and Bill.
The promo for Season 7 episode 2 indicates that Dan, the frat boy who described himself as a man in his prime with a lot of swag, will finally cook for the judges. In the preview clip, he tells the judges that the way to turn a woman on is by turning on the stove first. This statement raises judge Tosi's eyebrows. But let's hope that she finds his food better than his statements.
"MasterChef" Season 7 episode 2 airs at 8 p.m. EST on Wednesday, June 8, on FOX. You can live-stream the episode via FOX NOW.
