If "Married At First Sight: The First Year" is addictive, it is because the show depicts everyday problems that couples face, whether they are married or not. And that's exactly what we see between reality TV stars, Jason and his wife, Cortney. The couple, admittedly, are not on the same page. While one wants to live in New York, the other wants to settle close to her roots, in North Carolina.
In season 2 episode 5 of "Married at First Sight: The First Year," Jason and Cortney disagree about their future. The firefighter refuses to move from New York, although he is overwhelmed by the lack of space in their tiny apartment. In the previous episode, Jason and Cortney agree to put on hold plans to shift and take a vacation instead. But it turns out that the vacation is in fact planned in North Carolina.
In episode 6, Jason finally travels to his wife's native state and is introduced to it's local culture. According to the synopsis for episode 6, Cortney is relentless in her pursuit to make her husband see the state's significance in her life. But it remains to be seen if the firefighter will leave his job and work his way up in North Carolina. After all, he revealed that a lack of job is his worst fear.
The upcoming episode will also focus on Doug and Jamie's marriage. Even though Jamie tried her best to introduce intimacy in her marriage, Doug seemed aloof. In episode 6, she will remain somewhat anxious about her life with Doug, and perhaps confront him.
Episode 6's official synopsis reads:
"Cortney shows Jason where she grew up in North Carolina in hopes he'll want to move there someday. Neph tries to help Jasmine acclimate to the New York lifestyle. Jamie struggles with Doug's absence and senses that he's avoiding her."
"Married at First Sight: The First Year" season 2 episode 6 airs on Tuesday, 17 November at 9pm on FYI. You can live stream the episode here.
