It isn't too often that we get to see politicians displaying their skills in the sporting arena, but West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee makes an exception of sorts.
The 60-year-old politician got a lesson in tennis fron India's very own tennis star Sania Mirza at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on Wednesday evening where a high-capacity crowd saw the legends of the game battle it out in an exhibition game.
Sania teamed up with Mahesh Bhupathi to take on the team of Leander Paes and the evergreen Martina Navratilova in a mixed doubles game titled "Masters Kolkata". The City of Joy hosted the first of the three-leg tennis tour that will also take place in Hyderabad and New Delhi next.
Sania and Bhupathi won the game 7-5 7-5.
The event is a part of a promotional campaign of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL), that is scheduled to start in Kobe, Japan on 2 Decemeber.
Here are some photos and videos from the event on Wednesday evening in Kolkata.
