Makers of "Kaththi" have released a new making video promo on YouTube. (Check video below)
"Kaththi" created a lot of buzz prior to its release thanks to the impressive teaser, trailer and the songs. The presence of a big star like Vijay ensured that the film took grand openings on the first day. The film has performed exceptionally well and has managed to enter the ₹100 crore club in just 12 days.
Even as the film is continuing its good run, makers have released a new making video promo as a treat for the fans. The video, which has background score by Anuirdh, has fetched good response from fans.
Directed by AR Murugadoss, "Kaththi" is an action entertainer with Vijay appearing in dual roles. Samantha, comedian Sathish, Bollywood actor Neil Nithin Mukesh and Bengali actor Tota Roy are also part of the film's cast.
"Kaththi" was mired in a controversy prior to its release. There were speculations as to whether the film will make it to theatres on the scheduled date. However, much to the excitement of the fans, "Kaththi" was released in more than 1,500 screens worldwide on 22 October as a Diwali treat.
The film is rocking Indian and overseas box office, and has emerged as one of the biggest hits in Vijay's career, raking in more than ₹100 crore.
Although "Kaththi" is running successfully in theatres, controversies surrounding the film do not seem to die down. "Kaththi" is currently facing plagiarism issues from a struggling writer/film director named Minjur Gopi.
A video showing Gopi accusing Murugadoss of cheating and stealing his story is doing the rounds on social media sites. Gopi had earlier filed a case in the Chennai City Civil Court claiming ownership for "Kaththi" story. However, the court dismissed his petition and now Gopi has appealed once again to the court alleging that the film's story has been stolen from him.
Meanwhile, there are reports claiming that "Kaththi" team is planning to file defamation suit against Gopi.
"As an artist, Murugadoss has talked about justice in his films. Even in Kaththi, after approaching the court, the character reaches out to the media to take the issue to the public. When I try to do the same and take my case to the public through the media, why am I being threatened with a defamation suit," Gopi was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
The director has challenged Murugadoss for a face-to-face interaction on the issue in the presence of journalists, filmmakers and writers, reported the daily.
