Apart from Netflix's "House of Cards", there are only a handful of shows that concern itself with the politics on Capitol Hill. Thankfully, one of those shows happen to be CBS's "Madam Secretary" which revolves around the life of Elizabeth McCord and her skillful judgement of international relations.
The show, which went on a week's hiatus, will air its latest episode on Sunday. Admittedly, season 2 episode 10 titled "The Greater Good" captures a debilitating relationship between America and Russia.
In the promo for the upcoming episode, Elizabeth and President Dalton travel to Switzerland to pursue peace with Russia through diplomatic channels. This move by America is a result of its attack on Russian soil. With the threat of a counter attack by the Russians, a de-escalation of the conflict is a must, but it remains to be seen if Elizabeth can achieve it.
In the two minute clip, Elizabeth is seen trying to calm the situation but Russia's Maria Ostrov, doesn't seem to agree. The synopsis for the episode hints that the Secretary of State could blackmail her opponent with some information. In the promo, President Dalton seems against it. However, will he be persuaded?
The synopsis for season 2 episode 10 reads:
After they uncover a secret that could ruin Maria Ostrov's (Angela Gots) reputation, Elizabeth and President Dalton head to Switzerland to meet with her and use the information as leverage to find a peaceful solution to the escalated conflict with Russia.
