"Madam Secretary" will take viewers to an international challenge faced by the US in the 21st century when the show returns on CBS with season 2 at 8pm on Sunday, 4 October.
The premiere episode of the political drama will be live streamed here and it will focus on the twists and turns in Secretary of State Dr.Elizabeth McCord (Téa Leoni) and her husband Dr.Henry McCord's (Tim Daly) lives.
The official synopsis of episode 1, titled "The Show Must Go On" read: "Elizabeth must take the oath of office when the President's plane disappears over the Pacific Ocean in the Season 2 premiere. Meanwhile, Henry's new Defense Intelligence Agency handler asks him to recruit one of his Russian students to work for the US Government."
Meanwhile, show creator Barbara Hall teased serious tension in the White House during the premiere episode of season 2. "The big moment in the premiere is that Air Force One goes missing. From that point on, we get to see what the process is when something like that happens. We explore the line of succession and the complications that could ensue," she told The Hollywood Reporter.
Additionally, executive producer Lori McCreary revealed that Morgan Freeman will play an important role in the first episode. "One of our biggest moments is the appearance of a new character, the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, played by none other than the episode's incomparable director, Morgan Freeman," she said.
The followers of the political drama can expect to watch Elizabeth and Henry "begin to follow parallel tracks on a few international issues, with some of their covert paths crossing over," teased Hall.
CBS will air "Madam Secretary" season 2 premiere titled "The Show Must Go On" at 8pm on Sunday, 4 October.
