"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" season 17 will be back on NBC with its fourth episode, wherein the Grammy-Award winning actress Whoopi Goldberg will make a guest appearance. The 59-year-old will portray the role of a supervisor in the Department of Child Services named Janette Grayson.
The sequel is titled "Institutional Fail" and it will air at 9pm on Wednesday, 7 October. CLICK HERE to watch the episode live online on NBC.
A trailer of the fourth episode teased that a neglected child will expose a city-wide conspiracy and it seems to be a tough case for Sergeant Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and team.
The sneak peek video shows the detectives being questioned by a governmental official and urging her to drop the case. In the clip, Hargitay's character is seen saying," The city has blood on his hands".
So followers of the police procedural drama can expect to watch the stories of the corrupt government officials who turn a blind eye on the people's basic needs.
The official synopsis of "Institutional Fail" read:
A starving toddler found wandering the streets alone leads detectives to the home of Manuela Ozuna (guest star Jessica Pimental) and another child in grave condition.
The police question Department of Child Services caseworker Keith Musio (guest star John Magaro), whose vague and backdated reports on the family suggest he hadn't checked on the children in months.
When the overworked Keith accuses his supervisor, Janette Grayson (Goldberg), of orchestrating the false reports, Chief Dodds (guest star Peter Gallagher) promises to conduct an internal investigation. But when neglect leads to death, Barba (Raul Esparza) takes matters into his own hands and arrests them for manslaughter.
Meanwhile, Dodds indicates some changes coming to Benson's (Mariska Hargitay) squad.
