Real Madrid have got a massive lifeline right at the closing stages of the season to boost their chances of getting past El Clasico rivals Barcelona and win the La Liga 2015-16 title. Full three points against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Saturday will see them come just a point close to Barca in the league table.
Los Blancos go into their 33rd game of the campaign and if recent results are anything to go by, Getafe have no real chance of getting a favourable result for themselves against the away side. Zinedine Zidane, this time as a coach, is working wonders with the club. The 2-1 El Clasico win for Real Madrid earlier this month at the Camp Nou was the beginning of things.
The El Clasico result also turned out to be really demoralising for Barcelona. Unlike Real Madrid, Barcelona got a shock exit from the Champions League in the last eight stage itself. The Zidane-led side, meanwhile, will take on Manchester City in the semifinals of the prestigious European competition.
Real won their previous La Liga game 4-0 against Eibar, while Barca suffered another shock 1-0 defeat against Real Sociedad in their last Spanish league fixture.
The pressure is definitely on Getafe, who are currently rockbottom in the La Liga points table and have not won any of their previous six games, which includes a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Barcelona. Nevertheless, France football legend Zidane is not willing to take the challenge as an easy one.
"At the moment we are third [in the table], one point from second. We play Getafe, people think it will be easy but it won't," Zidane was quoted by Marca ahead of the match. "I'm only thinking about Getafe and I want to prepare well so that there are no surprises."
