NorthEast United FC will take on Kerala Blasters in match 38 of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2015 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday.
The points table portrays a pretty interesting scenario at this moment. Anything can happen and apparently anybody can qualify for the semi-final.
But NorthEast United FC have a golden opportunity ahead of them. They can go to the top of the ISL 2015 points table. On the other hand, it is almost a must-win situation for Kerala Blasters.
Kerala Blasters have had an awful ISL 2015 campaign so far. Out of the nine games they have played, Kerala Blasters have won just two, drawn two and lost five. They are in some sort of a fix and need to win this game against NorthEast United FC.
"We know the position we are in. We will try to get three points and there will be no negativity. We have to win four of our last five games. If we do not do that, it will be very, very difficult. Of course in football anything is possible. Unless it's mathematically impossible, we have to keep believing we can do it," Kerala Blasters assistant coach Trevor Morgan told mediapersons.
Meanwhile, the Highlanders have won three out of their last five games and are high on confidence. They are coming into this match after an impressive victory over Chennaiyin FC. They will be looking forward to continue this momentum and displace FC Pune City from the top of the ISL 2015 points table.
"All victories and losses are in the past. We are focusing only on this game, which is different and one where all our players are available. When we played Kerala, we missed eight players and we were playing our debut game. Tomorrow, whoever shows up with the best attitude will win and we hope that it will be us," NorthEast United FC coach Cesar Farias told the reporters.
"We have to take everything step by step, game by game. The focus now is solely on Kerala Blasters. The team is enjoying its good moments and we have to make the best out of it. We have to take the field with the same intensity as the last three matches. This game is like a final for us. These are very important three points."
