FC Pune City will host FC Goa in the reverse fixture of Indian Super League (ISL) 2015 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi Stadium, in Pune on 8 November, Sunday.
FC Goa will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the points table and inch closer to the semi-finals of ISL 2015. On the other hand, FC Pune City will return at home in their familiar surroundings and eye that top spot in the points table.
The last time these two met at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa, a few days ago, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
This will be a crucial game for the home side as they have managed to earn just one point in their last two games. This encounter against the Gaurs is also their penultimate home game and they would be looking to make the most of their home conditions.
"It was all down to me. I got it wrong. We didn't start very well but I was too hasty to change it and tried to change it back again at half time. It did not give my players any kind of stability. I have to look at myself first and foremost," FC Pune City coach David Platt had said after they were beaten comfortably by Kerala Blasters in their last fixture. "We have been on the training pitch ever since, and that's what any footballer would do. We have a game tomorrow evening and we believe we can perform well and get the three points."
Whenever these two sides clash against each other, it automatically becomes an enthralling encounter. In ISL 2014, both won their home games by a 2-0 margin.
FC Goa coach Zico lost a player in the form of Daryll Duffy as he picked up an injury and will be sidelined for the rest of the tournament. As a replacement, FC Goa have roped in the Nigerian MacPherlin Omagbemi Dudu, who will be avaialable to the FC Goa gaffer with immediate effect. Zico is expecting a tough contest against FC Pune City.
"They have a lot of strengths at home. They play very well at home. They lost at home to Delhi, but we know we are going to face a very strong team and will try our best to win. Our target now is to win the game and keep the top position. Our next target is to win games and remain in the top four. We are going to try and keep the same spirit as our last game. We know we have a very tough game against Pune, but we will try to do our best and get a positive result," said Zico.
