All eyes will be on the US team, which is currently preparing for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, scheduled to take place from 7 to 26 July in Canada and the US.
Their friendly clash against Guatemala at Nissan Field in Nashville, Tennessee, will be their final match before they start their CONCACAF Gold Cup title defence, which they won by defeating Panama 1-0 in 2013.
The US will start their campaign against Honduras on 7 July.
There is a huge sense of expectations from the US team, which defeated big teams such as the Netherlands and Germany in their previous friendly matches.
They are expected to walk past against Guatemala, who are ranked 93 in the FIFA rankings as compared to the US, which stands at 27.
Guatemala may not possess stars unlike US, which have some big names including Clint Demspey, Brad Guzan, Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore.
The US have not lost against Guatemala in their last 20 matches and they would try to maintain that record with the form that they have been showing of late against top sides of world football.
But Guatemala are surely going to give their best and provide a stiff competition to the US.
The US players are going to get a fair chance to impress against Guatemala as the US coach Jurgen Klinsmann is planning to make full use of the six substitutions available and look at the best possible players to start against Honduras.
"I think the game against Guatemala will give us a really big hint toward the starting eleven a couple of days later in Dallas against Honduras. In the friendly with Guatemala we have the chance to use six subs," Klinsmann was quoted as saying in an interview with ussoccer.com.
"We will use all six subs most likely to give the players minutes and give them a chance to show us what they have. As we get closer to the opening game we're going to zoom in and plan through hopefully a long tournament."
