Chelsea will face AC Milan in their third game of their US tour at the US Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, on Wednesday. So far in this tour, they registered a 1-0 victory over Liverpool and they suffered a 3-2 loss at the hands of Real Madrid in their last game.
Chelsea showed amazing grit after they went down 3-0 to Real Madrid in the first half of their previous match. They bounced back to pull two goals till the end, but unfortunately they could not score third to draw level in the game.
This is Chelsea's last game of their tour of US and after this match, they will be flying back to England to gear up for the Premier League action, which also begins in another 10 days time.
However, Chelsea's new manager Antonio Conte will want Chelsea to rev up their performance against AC Milan and sign off the tour with a win. That will give them a lot of boost ahead of the start of the new season.
"Against Real Madrid we improved a lot with the ball, with possession, with playing the ball. But without the ball in the defensive situation, we were bad compared to the game against Liverpool," Conte was quoted as saying by Standard.
"I think it was also because of a bit of tiredness in the players. This tour has been beautiful but has also been very intense. I want to work during the training sessions, not just enjoy and wait to play the games."
"In this period it is very important to work very hard, to have two training sessions and to improve different aspects, tactical and physical and look at the video analysis."
Milan on the other hand, lost to Liverpool 2-0 in their last game. But they defeated Bayern Munich in penalties in the game prior to that. Milan is no more a threatening side like they were in the 90's when Carlo Ancelotti was at the helm of the team. AC Milan have not managed to finish higher than 7th in any of the last three seasons and they really need to work on their game.
They will find it difficult to beat Chelsea as Conte will look to field a full-strength squad against them in Minneapolis on Wednesday.
However, it might turn out to be a good clash if AC Milan players show up to their potential.
