After recording a victory against I-League table-toppers Bengaluru FC at their home ground in Bengaluru, defending champions Mohun Bagan will want to continue their undefeated run in the league when they play Shillong Lajong on Wednesday.
The Kolkata giants are back at their home turf of the Barasat Stadium in West Bengal, with Bagan confident of another three points.
With four wins and two draws from six games so far, Bagan are presently second in the I-League, just a point below Bengaluru FC. India international Jeje Lalpekhlua and Haiti international Sony Norde combined to give Mohun Bagan the win over BFC last Saturday, making the journey of the away fans to the stadium memorable.
The pressure in on Shillong Lajong, currently sixth in the table. The North-East outfit have scored just two times in their six games, of which they have won twice, lost two and drawn the rest.
However, Sanjoy Sen, the Mohun Bagan coach, is not willing to take the away side lightly. "Lajong might be at a disadvantage with regards to the height factor but they build their passes well," Sen was quoted by Goal.
"Penn Orji, Uilliams and Boithang Haokip, who I believe is one of the finest along with Eugeneson Lyngdoh in India, delivers very well from dead-ball situations. They have a good young squad," the Kolkata coach explained.
Former Trinidad and Tobago international Cornell Glen will be keen to make an impression. The lethal Mohun Bagan goalpoacher will be playing against his old club, Shillong Lajong, for the first time in his career and Thangboi Singto, the Lajong coach, knows all about the abilities of his former striker.
"He [Glen] is a top striker and there will be a lot of expectations from him," Singto explained. "Glen is a professional and he is going to be dangerous for us. We have to stay strong defensively to keep him in check."
Kean Lewis, who had a brilliant match for Bagan against BFC, is expected to be in the starting lineup once again for Sanjoy Sen's side, while Brazilian striker Fabio Pena is a doubtful starter for Shillong Lajong.
