The kids of "Girl Meets World" are officially growing up and stepping into the next chapter of life with the upcoming Season 2 finale "Girl Meets Legacy." The episode will see Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her friends graduating from middle school, as Cory (Ben Savage) teaches them one last lesson.
In the Season 2 finale Cory asks his daughter and her classmates what their legacy will be, just as Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) starts planning for an epic class prank. Meanwhile, Farkle (Corey Fogelmanis) gets upset that in his absence, not only did his friends not miss him they replaced him with a goose.
It looks like the Riley-Maya-Lucas (Peyton Meyer) love triangle will not be resolved in Season 2. In an interview with The Wrap, "Girl Meets World" creator Michael Jacobs said that if the fans just see the show as a love triangle, they don't know the showrunners very well.
"There is a much bigger and broader conceptual question that we are answering with what appears to be a triangle between Riley, Maya and Lucas," Jacobs said.
To the fans that insist that Riley and Farkle will become a couple Jacobs promised that "everyone" will be brought into the equation. "Every episode is titled "Girl Meets" something. If we did "Girl Meets Love," it would not be one episode. It would be a sustained series of episodes in an attempt to explain, for this generation, what the perception of love is, versus what love may actually be, versus are we ready for that at all? Something that is so important cannot be something we tell in one story," Jacobs explained.

Jacobs went on to talk about looking in the pilot and following episodes for clues about "what's going on now." Could this attribute to what a lot of fans have been demanding from the beginning of the show -- A love story of Riley and Maya, the female leads?
In a poll conducted by International Business Times, India published March 4, 2016, fans of the show were asked which "Girl Meets World" couples they want to see get together in Season 3. Of the 1766 fans that voted, 65.03 percent felt that Riley and Maya should be a couple, making them the first lesbian couple in a Disney show -- when the show returns next season.
Meanwhile, 12.6 percent felt that Riley and Lucas would make a better pair and 15.37 percent thought Maya and Lucas would be a more suited couple. Uncle Josh (Uriah Shelton), who is expected to return in the Season 2 finale, is not forgotten with 4.02 percent of the voters hoping he would date Maya when she starts going to high school.
