The upcoming Episode 24 of "Girl Meets World" will more or less act as a Season 2 finale, as there will be no new episode for a month after that. That is probably why the writers decided to let the girls deal with some heavy stuff in "Girl Meets Belief".
After trust, forgiveness, love, friendship and many other valuable life lessons, Cory (Ben Savage) is going to teach Riley (Rowan Blanchard), Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) and their friends about belief. In the promo for the episode, we see Riley asking Maya why she can't believe in anything, in her typical alarmed tone.
It is safe to assume that the girls are discussing about the existence of God, and while Riley believes in the same, Maya does not seem to agree. The girls fight about the same, and possibly for the first time, their differences might tear Maya and Riley apart.

In a later scene, we see Maya telling Riley that she wants a break from her, when the latter points out that they are partners. Maya says, "How about I do what I do and you do what you do." We also here a voiceover declaring, "This is where our friendship ends, right here and right now".
There is no reason for the fans to worry, because they have a bunch of great friends in Farkle (Corey Fogelmanis), Lucas (Peyton Meyer) and Zay (Amir Mitchell Townes) who will not let the best friends ruin their friendship over one difference.
