German ambassador Michael Steiner, his wife Eliese and Congress leader Salman Khurshid made their acting debut in a remake video of Shah Rukh Khan's "Kal Ho Naa Ho".
The video, titled as "Lebe jetzt!", which means "Kal ho na ho" in German, was launched by actor Saif Ali Khan his mother Sharmila Tagore, Javed Akhta and Steiner at the German embassy on Friday.
In the video, Steiner has reprised the role of Shah Rukh Khan, Eliese has played the role of Preity Zinta, while Khurshid plays Saif's character.
"Traditionally, diplomacy has got to do with government to government relations, but modern democracy has got to do with people to people relations and that's what we've achieved through the music video," Michael told reporters during the event, according to IANS.
"This music video has proved my worst suspicions right; I'd always suspected that politicians and diplomats are actors, and now we have a documentary proof," lyricist Akhtar said.
The video has gone viral on social media and within 24 hours of its release it has got more than 2 lakh views on YouTube. The video also received response from people on Twitter.
Shah Rukh, who played the role of Aman Mathur in the movie, praised the makers of the video.
""@karanjohar: @iamsrk you have to see this!!! https://youtu.be/0XK3BVXbVsU #KalHoNaaHo #eternalsong" Drat! They remade it already! Awesome job," Shah Rukh tweeted.
