The Singapore Grand Prix has always been one of the most popular races in the Formula One circuit. It is also the most challenging one and hence will make an interesting weekend at the Marina Bay circuit. Mercedes, who have been dominant this season, will be eager to top the race once again for they have won 10 out of the 12 races this year.

However, Sebastian Vettel won the other two races -- Malaysian Grand Prix and Hungarian Grand Prix --  when Mercedes failed to stand tall in the podium. 

Vettel has an impressive record in the Singapore GP, where he has won three out of the last four races. So it goes without saying that the German driver loves driving in Singapore.

"It is always hard to make any predictions, but over the past few years this place has always been very good to me and I have had very nice results. I love this track, probably because it is one of the most challenging events throughout the entire season. I think that we have a strong package at the moment, so I hope we can continue our momentum here and keep up this good record," said Vettel.

Vettel has been in good form after his win in the Hungarian Grand Prix. The German also finished second in the Italian GP, and hence will be confident when he drives at the Marina Bay circuit with the practice session starting on Friday.

However, Lewis Hamilton has taken a huge lead in the drivers' championship as he has accumulated 252 points followed by team mate Nico Rosberg with 199 points. Hence, it might be a difficult task to catch up with Hamilton, but Vettel has set his sights on Rosberg's second place. Vettel is third with 178 points.

"The goal for the championship is maximum attack. We have to go for everything and anything that we can get, period. For sure Nico (Rosberg) is closer to us than Lewis is, so he is our prime target - but as long as the chance is there we need to try and do everything possible to go for the 'big' thing! Realistically Lewis is in a very good position as he has a very strong package at the moment," added Vettel.

Mercedes and Ferrari might be the two big teams, but there are plenty of other teams to watch out for, especially Force India, who have been climbing the constrictors' championship charts of late. They presently lie in fifth place, ahead of teams such as Toro Rosso and Lotus, which is a huge achievement.

Both the Force India drivers' – Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg – have been pretty decent with 33 and 30 points respectively.

Perez hopes that the team continue their performance in the Singapore GP as well.

"Yeah, definitely. I'm really optimistic. As you say, we've had a really good run up until now and hopefully we can continue. The car is improving. We just getting better and better so hopefully we can have a strong finish again. As you say, every race I have done here I've been into the points. I hope I make it again and in a better position," said Perez.
