The first official trailer of Dhanush-Sonam Kapoor starrer "Raanjhanaa" has been released.
Dhanush who achieved national fame through his "Kolaveri Di" song is making his debut in "Raanjhanaa". The movie is directed by Anand L Rai of "Tanu Weds Manu" fame.
After the release of the trailer, Dhanush tweeted saying, "RAANJHANAA official trailer jai bholenath!! Had har mahadev."
The makers also released the exclusive poster of "Raanjhanaa" featuring the lead pair. Earlier on Holi (27 March), a teaser picture and a holi greeting from the film's team was released, creating a lot of buzz among social media circles.
"Raanjhanaa" is an intense love story set in the small town of Varanasi. Actor Abhay Deol is playing a pivotal role in the flick. The movie was initially slated for a release on 28 June. But latest reports suggest that the makers have decided to release it a week earlier, following the release of Emraan Hashmi-Vidya Balan starrer "Ghanchakkar" on 28 June.
"Now with 'Ghanchakkar' releasing on June 28th, the makers of 'Raanjhanaa' have decided to push release date of their film further," a source from the industry had earlier told a leading daily.
The film is slated for a 21 June release, but there is no official word on it. "Raanjhanaa" is seen as an important film in Dhanush's career, as this is his Bollywood debut. Until now, southern actresses have done exceptionally well in the Hindi film industry.
However, popular male south stars who are being treated as demi-gods by their fans have not been able to make it big in Hindi cinema. Now, it remains to be seen if Dhanush, who is the son-in-law of superstar Rajinikanth, would be able to break the "south Indian jinx" in Bollywood.
