After having lost to Malaysia in their Pool C encounter in the ongoing Fed Cup Asia Oceania zone group II on Tuesday, Pakistan would be eager to win their clash against India on Wednesday.
But the Indian team led by Sania Mirza could prove to be a tough opponent for the Pakistani women. The Indian star, who has just recently been crowned the world number one in the WTA circuit in the individual doubles ranking, would be eager to hand India a crucial victory and increase their chances of getting promoted to Asia/Oceania Zone Group I next year.
Along with Sania, the Indian team includes players such as Ankita Raina, Natasha Palha, and Prarthana G. Thombare, who would all be trying their best to earn a name for themselves at the SAAP Tennis Complex in Hyderabad.
The members of the Pakistani team are Ushna Suhail, Sara Mansoor, Iman Qureshi alongside non-playing captain Inam Ul Haq.
It would also be like a homecoming affair for Sania, who has not played in Hyderabad for almost nine years. The world number one is expected to enthral the home fans.
There are four groups in the competition with a total of 11 countries after Iraq opted out of the competition. Group A comprises Philippines and Singapore, whereas Iran, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan make up Group B.
India have been pooled alongside Malaysia and Pakistan in Group C, while Group D comprises of Indonesia, Pacific Oceania and Sri Lanka.
Though, India are expected to make it out from their particular group, they would find some tough matchup later in the competition, where the group winners from Pool A will face the top finisher in Pool C, likewise winner of Pool B and D would clash against one another.
Hence, the winner of both these matches would play against one another for that elusive spot in the Asia/Oceania Zone Group I 2016.
