Breaking all cable records, AMC's "Fear the Walking Dead" debuted on Sunday, 23 August. The prequel to "The Walking Dead", has not only lived up to the fans' expectations, but has left them craving for more; which why, another 30-minute special, set in the same time as "FTWD", will be aired online.
It is understood that the 30-minute "Walking Dead" special will feature a group of airline passengers who get attacked, and all but one will die. The only live passenger will join the cast of "FTWD", but whether he/she will be seen in episode 2 "So Close, Yet So Far", has not been clarified.
In the coming episode of the freshman series, we will see Nick (Frank Dillane), who is relieved after finding out he isn't going crazy, struggles to remain sober. His mother Madison (Kim Dicken) is helping him through the debilitating withdrawal symptoms.
From the promo for episode 2, it looks like the "bug" is spreading fast, with even Principal Artie seemingly turned into a zombie. Madison and Tobias (Licoln A Castellanos) are seen sneaking around the school with a cart-load of canned foods, probably for storage.
"So Close, Yet So Far", will also introduce the Salazar family, immigrants from El Salvador whose patriarch Daniel (Ruben Blades) will do anything to protect his wife and daughter. In a promo, he is seen telling Maddy that men do evil because of fear; possibly referring to the soldiers who are killing civilians because they are afraid of the virus spreading.
Meanwhile, Travis (Cliff Curtis) has gone out into the city of Los Angeles falls in search of his son Cristopher (Lorenzo James Henrie). It is understood that the Salazars will help Travis, Chris and Liza (Elizabeth Rodriguez) in a time of need and that he will also equip Travis's two families to survive the zombie apocalypse.
Watch out for season 1 episode 2 of "Fear the Walking Dead" at 9.00 pm (EST) on Sunday, 30 August on AMC. You can also live stream "So Close, Yet So Far" via AMC Live.
