It is always a highly anticipated affair when an Italian club takes on an English club. Though, it might not be a Champions League affair between Tottenham Hotspur and Fiorentina, the Europa League clash at White Hart Lane is expected to be a keenly fought battle.
Fiorentina presently lie on the fourth position of the Serie A, while Tottenham lie on 6th position in the EPL standings.
Tottenham have a tough fixture ahead of them as they are set to play six games in 17 days, including the League Cup final against Chelsea on 1 March. But, the Spurs' boss, Mauricio Pochettino is aware of it and sees a positive side to it.
Pochettino said: "It's a good sign we are in all competitions. I am happy.
"All the squad are fit and we are in a very good way," as was quoted by BBC.
But, with such huge fixtures coming up in the next few weeks, Pochettino might be a relived man that the team does not have any major injury concerns, so he can rotate the players as per requirements.
"It's important to manage the squad and always analyse after the games each case and each player and after to be clever and select the best player to play in each game," said Pochettino.
It is not going to be an easy outing against the Italian side, for they would also be desperate to progress further in the competition. Considering this is an away game for the Italian side and also the first leg, Fiorentina would be aware of an away goal at White Hart Lane.
Though, Fiorentina might not be highly talked about, they have players with relative Premier League experience such as Micah Richards, Mohamed Salah, Alberto Aquilani, David Pizarro, Alessandro Diamanti and Giuseppe Rossi.
Their experience of playing in the EPL will come in handy for the Italian side, as former Manchester City defender, Micah Richards said, "Salah has slotted in quite comfortably as he is a great player, he has played in the Premier League just like me, so I think he will be very helpful," as was quoted by Mirror.
With both the teams not sure of Champions League qualification via their domestic competition, winning the Europa League could prove to be the best way to enter the Champions League next season. So, there is a whole lot to play for when both the teams play at White Hart Lane tonight.
