Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool will eye victory in the EPL as they are set to face Swansea City at Liberty Stadium on Sunday. Liverpool can close the gap to their arch-rivals, Manchester United, who are at sixth place, to one point with an away win.
However, if United defeat Leicester City later during the day, the Red Devils regain their four-point lead.
Liverpool have a huge Europa league fixture (second leg) coming up against Villarreal during the week, hence one might see a number of changes in the team. Striker Daniel Sturridge, who did not feature against the Spanish side in the first leg, is expected to start and put forward a claim in the starting eleven with an impressive performance.
Some of the key players for the Villarreal game like Dejan Lovren and Philippe Coutinho could be rested. Irrespective of the team that Klopp fields against Swansea, he will want his players to give it all to emerge victorious. Liverpool manager believes that the game is going to be an intensive one.
"We know how intensive the game will be. I think Swansea feel and know they're in the league next year. They had a few problems, so it's not 100 percent. I think we know how intensive the game will be, so we have to think about this, not the result or goal difference," thisisanfield.com quoted Klopp as saying.
"I'm the first who wants everything. I sit here and we speak about Swansea. We'll go there, try to win."
Liverpool might have been decent in the EPL of late, but they need their players to play quality football for 90 minutes. They drew against Newcastle United after a poor second half in their last EPL game, and Klopp will not want a similar performance against Swansea City, who lost their last two matches in the league.
Swansea manager, Francesco Guidolin, knows the threat that Liverpool poses even if they do not play some of their quality players. Liverpool played a number of young players against Bournemouth as they were gearing up to face Borussia Dortmund a few weeks back, like Villarreal, and they emerged triumphant in the EPL.
"Liverpool can play the same in the Premier League and the Europa League as they are a big club with many important players. I remember the same situation when they played in the Europa League and then they played against Bournemouth in the Premier League a few days later. They played with many young players and won," Belfast Telegraph quoted the Swansea manager as saying.
"They are not far from the top four position, and Liverpool is a great club."
Swansea will be eager to create a major upset in the EPL, defeating Liverpool, and move to 13th place in the standings.
