Manchester United will play host to West Bromwich Albion (WBA) on Saturday. United will be looking forward to avoid a thrid straight defeat, after the loss to Chelsea and Everton in their last two games. They have been playing extremely well and as a cohesive unit, and the combinations deployed by manager Louis Van Gaal have augured well for the Red Devils in the second half of the 2014-2015 season.
They were completely outclassed by Everton last week after playing some brilliant football before that match. It was a point of concern for the United manager and he definitely did not look happy after the 3-0 thumping at Goodsion Park. They were also concerned over Wayne Rooney's knee injury, but Van Gall confirmed that he is fit and will feature in the playing XI against the West Bromwich Albion. It will definitely give them a major boost ahead of the game, as Robin van Persie is also fit to play.
"Rooney is fit to play, it was not so heavy as we expected," Van Gaal told MUTV. "Wayne is very important for us, so I am very happy. Jones is fit but we have to see his match rhythm, of course. But Shaw has trouble with his groin so he cannot play," he added.
Angel Di Maria would be looking to step up and perform, as he has been out of form of late. His manager is hopeful and lauded him for his effort, and expects that he would stay at Old Trafford. He will be looking for a place in the playing XI against West Brom.
Meanwhile, Darren Fletcher is prepared for a united return on Saturday. "I can't wait to return. I'm just hoping that I walk on the correct side, go into the right dressing room!
"But I'm going back with a job to do. For that 90 minutes I'll be wanting to beat Manchester United. That's the winner inside me.
"There will be no favours from me. I was desperate to beat Liverpool last week. I will want to win this game too," added Fletcher.
West Manager Tony Pulis is confident that Fletcher will not succumb to the situation and would bring out his best. West Brom has a number of injury concerns, but he chose to remain silent over it. Youssouf Mulumbu returns from an injury and is expected to feature in the game against United.
Expected line-ups:
Manchester United: De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Valencia, Young, Mata, Blind, Herrera, Rooney, Fellaini, Van Persie.
West Bromwich Albion: Myhill, Brunt, Lescott, Olsson, McAuley, McManaman, Fletcher, Morrison, Gardner, Berahino, Anichebe.
